Existing Condition
When a consumer packaged goods company decided it needed a roofing partner to help manage their numerous facilities, it had several pre-established goals. The first was to provide the company’s plants a high-quality, safety-oriented roofing contractor. With many locations far from a metropolitan center, another major objective was to find a roofing company that could provide local service and repairs without needing to subcontract the work. The company’s purchasing department developed the two other major goals: consolidating purchasing power to drive cost savings and creating a centralized information source to help manage and control the capital spending process.

Solution
As a member of Corporate United, the consumer packaged goods company approached the GPO to learn about its roofing agreement with CentiMark Roof Systems. Corporate United informed the company about the pre-negotiated discount on projects and CentiMark’s Roof Asset Management Program. Upon hearing that CentiMark is North America’s leading commercial and industrial roofing contractor with over 75 locations across the US and Canada, the company decided to sign the letter of commitment stating that they would invite CentiMark to participate in a majority of their roofing project bids.

Results
Since signing the letter of commitment, CentiMark now provides local assistance to more than 100 of the company’s facilities. When invited to participate in an estimate process against other roofing contractors, CentiMark was awarded the project 85% of the time due to the Corporate United discounts and lowest allowable threshold pricing. The company’s facilities managers were pleased to find that CentiMark provides 20-year labor and material warranties, as opposed to the standard 10- or 15-year warranties to which they had grown accustomed. In addition to the service levels, pricing and warranties, the company determined that the MyCentiMark.com website surpassed expectations. Plant personnel track the 75 active warranties on MyCentiMark.com, and they can also review the notes and recommendations made for each facility inspection. The recommendation section of the web site helps corporate purchasing to forecast capital budgets, and the entire site allows the department to meet their initial goal of more successfully managing the capital spending process by having a centralized information source.

CentiMark continues to meet and exceed the four original goals that the consumer packaged goods company set, and the company is thrilled to have partnered with the best roofing vendor in the market.
